The City of Campbell River and Greenways formed a partnership to create Campbell River’s first Urban Forest Management Plan. Trees in Campbell River contribute to the community’s high quality of life. To keep these valuable assets thriving in an urban setting requires ongoing planning, maintenance and monitoring. An urban forest management plan is a strategic, systematic and cost effective way to manage the long term health and distribution of trees in our community. Phase I of work involved completing an urban forest inventory by Greenways in 2010. This full scope inventory captured the current level of canopy coverage and baseline data used to develop Phase II, the Urban Forest Management Plan.  The plan has been completed and is with City Staff to make recommendations for adoption by City Council this fall.
