Are you keen on gardening but do not have access to your own garden space?
We have partnered with the City of Campbell River and School District 72 to organize a volunteer database to help take care of the schools’ gardens over the summer months!
Once registered, the teachers running this program have password-access to this database and will arrange your volunteering and what you can take from the garden.
Why volunteer for this program?
Campbell River currently has a long waitlist for a plot in a community garden, and many people don’t have access to land to grow their own produce. By helping with this program over the summer, many of the schools will let you take home specified produce as a thank-you!
Although not necessary in order to volunteer, we would love to have experienced gardeners share their knowledge with the program! Helping with these programs is rewarding, by giving kids access to healthy and fresh food, improve food security and literacy, and support hands-on math and science lessons!
In order to register to volunteer for this program, you only need two things: enthusiasm and a clean criminal record check (CRC).
You can get your CRC done for free through our friends at Volunteer Campbell River.
